Established in 1538, the University of Strasbourg is a public research university in Strasbourg. It brings together 55,000 students, including 12,500 international students from 158 countries. The university is organized around 35 faculties and research units, complemented by 66 research entities. It operates across six campuses in Alsace, France.      

In global rankings, the University of Strasbourg holds a position of #420 in the 2026 QS World University Rankings and is recognized among the top 150 universities worldwide in the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU).

Admissions Information

The admission calendar for University of Strasbourg will be available in October. Applications for international students are usually open from November to January of the academic year — i.e., at the end of January 2026.

Reminder: The awarding of the Lafayette Fellowship is conditional upon admission to one of the eligible partner institutions. Applicants must complete both the Lafayette Fellowship application and apply to at least one program at one of the partner institutions.
