Established in 1878, Sciences Po is one of the most selective schools in the humanities and social sciences in Paris. In September 2026, it will launch a new graduate school: the Paris Climate School.
The Paris Climate School is Sciences Po’s response to the growing demand for interdisciplinary knowledge on climate change and the ecological transition. Anchored in the social sciences and open to dialogue with the natural sciences and professional practice, the school provides a rigorous intellectual environment for analyzing the political, economic, legal, and social dimensions of environmental transformations.
Its flagship program, the Master’s in Ecological Transition, Risks, and Governance, is a two-year, English-taught degree that offers students a comprehensive understanding of the drivers, consequences, and governance of climate and ecological risks. Drawing on Sciences Po’s long-standing strengths in political science, law, economics, sociology and international affairs, the program equips students with both conceptual frameworks and practical tools to navigate complex sustainability challenges. The curriculum combines academic coursework with applied learning opportunities, including policy and crisis workshops, field studies, and engagement with external stakeholders. The Paris Climate School seeks to train future decision-makers capable of critically assessing existing models and contributing to systemic change. It reflects Sciences Po’s ambition to position itself as a leading institution in the field of climate-related social science education and to contribute meaningfully to global efforts for a just and sustainable transition.
